I do not believe that the interviews are mandatory. I personally know people who got in last year and they weren't interviewed. I don't know the purpose of the interview, maybe to validate some information the candidate submitted. | ||||

"unable to recommend" for admission. Expected, no interview – and when I emailed PI expressing interest in Oct, PI said he wasn't interested in hearing applicants "regurgitate" his ideas. Ouch. | ||||
