TPB: Yes, pretty much. I'm the same poster below you who got the offer. The GAO basically does an administrative check of your transcript and other documents to cross check that they meet minimum requirements for the course. As long as you didn't fake a degree or something or misrepresent anything you're good to go :)

To the poster below: I am also wondering whether “awaiting approval by GAO = offer” but I wouldn't be too sure. As I have it, it is still possible to be rejected at this stage.

Moved to GAO on 19/01. International, but have a first class Economics degree from top UK university (not Cambridge). Graduated in 2019 - did an undergraduate thesis and lots of part-time RA, have been working as a full-time RA since graduation.

3.65 GPA. Not including 1 poor year of mental health ~3.85 GPA, with an A+ on an honors thesis. One mid-author-publication at a major paper, multiple poster presentations, and research awards in an unrelated field (neuroscience). TAed biostatistics course.

Moved to “ Awaiting approval by GAO - Awaiting approval by the Central Graduate Admissions Office” I am an EU applicant studying at a top RG uni in London. Average mark is a first (73/74), and 77 in my major subject (Politics). Two UG publications, and a thesis in the department's specialty. Not sure what GAO means, but I figure it counts as an update!

Application unsuccessful. 1st-class from a London RG-university, internship at a UK state-sector. Might have been my profile, might have been my research proposal. Disappointed but also expected - good luck to all the others!

Submitted beginning of November, asked for an update at the beginning of the month. Department review was positive but they were unable to find me a suitable supervisor.

To the poster below, have you received the email today? My application still seems to be under review, I wondered if they send the results all at the same time or at different times?
