Waitlisted for funding

Relevant Major GPA = 3.82 No funding

This was the last school I was waiting to hear from. I'm bummed, but not surprised.

Received an email linking to the website

I actually visited on March 7, after visiting Princeton, on a whim. While there, i was told that they had not completely made decisions, but I should expect a decision within a week or so. Granted, I got an email on Thursday regarding the decision from the Vice-Chair. The official decision came today, for those still waiting.

Didn't receive an email or anything informing me which I thought was strange. Finally checked app status link from the email they sent me when I initially submitted my application the day before the application deadline.

Very kind e-mail, but a rejection. This was my number one choice, so it's disappointing.

I emailed asking for an update, and I received a very personal and thorough email explaining that my "single greatest disadvantage" was that I'm not from Canada. He said they liked my application but only had 2 non-Canadian spots open. Basically, if you're not admitted by now, you're rejected he said. I'm really disappointed-- I really wanted to work with Victoria Wohl. :(

I also saw that someone was accepted on Feb. 8th. A friend of mine was rejected on Feb. 20th. I have no idea what that means for the rest of us who have neither been accepted or rejected as of yet.

I am also curious. One of my grad student friends asked one of the chairs yesterday and it sounds like they are still making decisions.

To the person who posted the question about Columbia CLST: someone posted an acceptance on the results search on Feb. 8, and I've heard from others (though I can't guarantee it as fact) that the Classical Studies program can only take a couple of students this season. There could still be an informal waitlist, but it's odd that they've waited so long to send out notifications (even if just rejections!). Hope this helps.

Accepted forthe Mphil, no word about funding in the offer, I assume that means there isn't any? Does anyone know?

Has seriously no one else heard anything from Columbia this season? Has anyone else tried contacting them? I guess I'm either not in or on some sort of unofficial wait list? Kind of late to be keep, no?

Eager to get in! If you don't intend to accept an offer, please pass it on!
