Email to check the portal. This one hurts. It was one of my top choices & I contacted a POI who was really excited to hear I'm applying, so I expected a different result. But, at least I have an offer from another top-tier university. 1A/6R/6P (2 of which are probably silent rejections)

Randomly checked the portal and saw that there was an update. Bummer

Email from Jennifer Morton 0a/1w/2r/13p

Received email to check my application portal to view my application update. Portal update stated, "The number of applications to the University of Pennsylvania is very large every year, and unfortunately, your application was not among those we were able to accept for admission."

Got an email from the DGS and was invited to the campus visit. Very grateful and excited.

Political Theory; emailed on Friday by DGS & invited for admitted students day, which I probably can't attend as an international. Would appreciate help from anyone who's been in a similar boat. (Grad GPA: 3.96)

Surprised I got in!

ChemBio track. TOEFL 101. BS with honor in Chemistry at National Taiwan University. Undergraduate thesis. 1 1st author perspective paper. 1 7th author research paper. 1 3th research paper.

Had a short video call with potential supervisor which I was nervous and didn’t ask anything impressive. But our work really aligned.

Paid closest attention to my writing samples and my statement of purpose. Had great recommendors which definitely helped.
