Their results process is literally the worst among all the universities that I applied to. **RANT BEGIN**. First of all, their portal is straight out of the 1990s/2000s and contains many UI dark patterns. Then the completely stupid process of "update pending" status in their application portal - why not simply send the result (even if it's a reject) via email - is it too difficult for the graduate committee to follow simple procedures. They made us wait for two whole days just to give a rejection - just send a mail instead - is it really that difficult? And finally, I have no idea of the basis on which they admit candidates. I am from a tier-1 institute with a high GRE/TOEFL score, multiple A* publications, and a high GPA. Certainly a better "profile" than many others that got admitted. Will be going to a top 8 university from which I have an admit. Am I salty and angry - yes, I absolutely am. **RANT END**

here goes my profile: Tier-1 university in India GRE 323 TOEFL 112 GPA 8.37/10 1 A* publication 6 Research projects with 2 being with international professors from esteemed universities. I'm not even fucking pissed, just goddamn confused

After checking for the 182nd time and after being on Update Pending for 48 hours, I am 'Denied' admission. Did not expect this - had a better profile than many who got admitted this year, last year and the year before that. Totally heartbroken. Moreover, the way they give out decisions is totally backwards - no email on denial of admission, hung on update pending, quite stressful. I think I am not going to recommend applying to UMass to anyone.

To those who got rejected from UIUC, did your status on the application portal change from "Awaiting Decision" to "Rejected"?

I was one of the posters asking if they would tell me if I was on the waiting list before Jeff replied. but reading Jeff's explanation closely it sounds like we can assume we are rejected if we havent heard back but they havent sent rejections because some "late" faculty did not do anything yet. I appreciate he came here to reply to us and Jeff even said he does not do admissions. either way it's not okay to post racist garbage here and thankfully that post was deleted

To the comments below; I also don't really like the way that Brown is doing it, but it seems to be a pretty standard thing at a lot of schools. From my non-acceptances this year, less than half were prompt rejections - in my case, UT, UW, Stanford, and (if mid-March is prompt) Cornell. The pool of "undecided" schools was of a similar caliber mix as above, so it's hard to be mad at Brown for applying a common practice. Also, I can appreciate Jeff for explaining the situation for those who were just going off of hunches. Antagonizing him would be like killing the well-intended messenger.

To the iit-b guy who got into stanford, how much is your per year cost including tuition and living and how are you planning to pay for it? I am asking because I need some idea for myself too. thanks

I so hope not, dude. I've been on Update Pending for the last 36 hours, out here, fingers crossed. About to loose my sanity now.

Can anyone who got a reject please share if they received an email stating change in application status? This is the worst fucking admission process ever!!

Undergrad from BITS Pilani non-CS major.

I contacted them through phone on 17 of march and they said that it will take 2 weeks so i guess it will be last dates of march i even asked them that around 30,31 march but they said that they can't guarantee so u might expect on the last dates of march.

The one asking for Databases Track Admits, I too have applied for the same and haven't heard from them yet. can anyone from the pool who got admitted confirm is any one you guys are from the same track?

TTPB: Shouldn't the last week of March mean from 24rth March? Did they say 30-31? I dont think applicants are so high, they cant manage! It has been 109 days since the deadline today.

I contacted UCLA ms computer science they said that they will probably start releasing admits by the last week of march(around 30, 31) it they have completed their evaluation they also said that this time the number of applicants are high so it will take time.

Not plan to go. Oxford was one of the best University 20 century. But it become a business University without any funding anymore. Plan to go Imperial which shows more potentials to become the best University in UK and world.
