Got an email from the (upcoming) director of program for a phone call to clarify some points of my research experience, spoke two days later (quite a long interesting conversation). She informed me of my wait list status, but seemed really excited about me in the end. So please release your offer if you do not plan on attending :)

Interview set up for tomorrow.

Probably won't be accepting even if I'm picked off the waitlist. I've already been accepted into 3 others programs that were higher on my. Good luck to everyone else!

Finalist for funding in EGAP program through the school. Interviews to be completed soon for them with faculty. Probably will accept if offered the assistantship.

No notification via email, phone call, etc. Just checked the website in portal and saw I was accepted. Probably won't accept unless offered funding. Anyone else heard back from UMBC on funding?

Immediately got rejected. They do not put any consideration into research experience and fieldwork (I have plenty of that), which seems counterintuitive. If you don't have great GRE scores AND a great GPA, you will not get in. Pretty superficial way of reviewing. Also, extremely insulting that they denied me two days after the application was due. Looks like they gave it a lot of thought, didn't they?

Was invited to open house, could not attend. Informed program that I have accepted offer at other university and asked to be taken off the wait list.
