GPA is MA

hank you for your interest in the Indiana University, Department of Anthropology graduate program. I am writing to update you regarding the status of your application for admission to the Department. We were unable to extend you an offer of admission. This was a very difficult decision for our Admissions Committee to make, as our applicant pool is extremely competitive this year. We encourage you to apply again in future years and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors

GPA is from MA in anthro from another school. Arch track. Received an email with a link to view a status change in the application portal. I only exchanged a few short emails with my proposed PI before applying (supposedly they weren't available to meet in the fall), so I am actually kind of surprised that I was even waitlisted. The message from the grad chair in the portal included the following phrase, "We hope that being waitlisted does not inconvenience you" which I found a bit funny. 1w/1a/1r/5p

Did a visit day last year with the department, thought we vibed. It was high on my list, so this is disappointing.
