weeeeeee NOW WE'RE ROLLING!

Rejected via letter in the mail. Flat, unemotional letter. First rejection. Didn't realize how depressing it would feel.

(New Writer's Project) From Matthew Satterfield: "Thank you for your interest in the New Writers Project at the University of Texas at Austin. We are sorry to report that we are unable to offer you admission at this time. As a small and highly competitive program, we're able to accept only a tiny percentage of our applicant pool, and in deciding amongst hundreds of files, we realize that some talented and worthy applicants have been denied admission. Thank you for submitting your work. We wish you the best in your future writing." Seems like a basic rejection -- not surprised by this one

I got a voicemail from Bret Anthony Johnston and have been screaming into a pillow for a couple hours. This is my second application season. This is the only program I applied to. This is the most surreal feeling.

Expected

that's ok:) congrats to those accepted!

As noted previously for rejections, they don't email you any notification—it just pops up on the grad portal above your letters of rec.

Applied mid-December.

Not even an email. Rude.

Stage II!

Said statement/written work was not competitive enough
