Notification to check portal.

gpa is masters. portal went from blank --> decided - decision pending --> decided with rejection letter linked. : (

I am frantic with joy ! Email notification today. I will be accepting. Good luck everyone! I'm wrapped for the season.

As one of their requirements, they wanted a nice shrubbery that was small, tasteful, with a little path running down the middle. I brought one, and safe to say that I was accepted! Good luck to all of you-- just be sure not to say "it" during the interview!

They only let Leos in this year. Heard they want a Virgo cohort next

Glad I can close this potential future, oh well. Hoping for a more positive decision season!

This has to be the quickest rejection anyone has ever had. I submitted an additional document the graduate school requested, received confirmation that my application was forwarded to the department, and just a few minutes later, when I checked the portal, the status was: deny

The Illinois English Department has completed its graduate admissions deliberations, and I am indeed sorry to report that we will not be able to offer you admission for the 2026-2027 academic year. This decision should not be taken as a sign that our readers did not enjoy reading your work: due to this year's budgetary restrictions, we have been unable to admit dozens of candidates who could thrive at the graduate level. In the end, we admitted fewer than 10% of the applicants for graduate study in our department, making this an especially competitive admissions cycle. We hope that you will be able to pursue your goals for advanced study in another context, and we wish you the very best success in your scholarly or creative endeavors. Many thanks for your interest in our program, and for all of the time and energy that you put into your application.

Applied for English + Asian Studies dual-certificate. Interview members are the two professors I mentioned in my SOP
