Rejected after a long process of about 3 months and 4 interviews. I was accepted by the academic team but rejected due to the administration office. Ielts 6.

Applied April 14, 2017 but still haven't heard any news. As per Admission Office, I'm still under review. I'm starting to feel hopeless.

relax, nothing to worry about. I remember seeing one of kaust alumni, she became a lecturer or something at Tayba University. beside you shouldn't make kaust your last hope. you should try getting a masters degree at any university in SA after that you can focus on your PhD studies, you'll get much more interesting work and better student than your other option. But I really am worried, cause I checked my mail and they literally contacted me 2 days after the Academic interview for the personal date, I'm just thinking the worst cause when they asked if I applied for other universites I said yes as a back up plan so maybe they will think I don't want it enough, also I mentioned getting Educational diploma to prepare for becoming a teacher ( as another back-up plan if everything else didn't work and i couldn't find a decent job ) I couldn't say all that , cause as soon as I said I got that and she asked what's the use of that and i said it's to prepare me into becoming a teacher she cut me saying ah I see and moved on .. so yeah they probably don't like me so I'm not gonna keep my hopes up 😔 even tho I really wanted to get in .. Hello people, I had a half-hour long interview with my professor for a VSRP internship and she approved my application. I was then informed of a personal interview with the graduate affairs office and it has been a month with not response from them. I tried emailing and calling but to no avail. I know this insn't a Phd but should they at least notify of the status, knowing that I do not require any visa for the program. Thanks

Yes, I remember I was ready with the science questions. I tried pulling the interviewees to Science subjects and about things mentioned in my CV but they didn't show much interest. I think they want to make sure that you're a researcher material, like speaking and carrying yourself under pressure. I would make time for other things to prepare for my interview if I were you. try watching youtube videos on interview tips. take a look at the interview tips email that they've sent. Okay so they didn't really ask you any questions related to your field, just your thoughts about your university and what do you like to do on your free time and stuff like that , right? Cause in my academic interview I was asked about stuff within Quantum Mechanics and stuff like that, so I'm afraid I'll have to go over it and other stuff too 😭 But I'll sure read my cv and statement of purpose and if I have some spare time I'll go over some other stuff, so thanks for the tip! Please feel free to ask as many questions as you want. don't be shy! so I received an Email saying that time slots were available. when I checked I think it was the only option to choose :P. one thing I want to you to keep in mind that that same day of the week I had my academic interview was the same day I've been invited for the last interview. in other words, if your academic interview was on a Monday then I think you'll have your second and third interview on other Mondays (not sure though) so maybe this will help you fix your schedule. I didn't ask for a change in time slots but I think if you contacted anyone then they should help you out but in my opinion, the sooner you take that interview the better (don't ask why, it's just me.). about the interview, to me it was a mix of both. I think I would've been very prepared if I have went over my CV and the Personal statement I submitted and to keep up with the advances in my field (I'd use them to change topics:P). they asked about my university and what I thought about it. they asked about what I liked to do in my free time and things like that really. I think they have made their decision before even seeing me but I could be wrong. anyway, I would say that they will change your interview date if you provided the right reasons. R4 ! Ops, one more question * sorry * okay about the invitation, how was it ? I know that they get your fly tickets but I mean do they decide which day exactly and what time or did they ask when is the good time for you? Were they flexible about it? thing is that I might get really busy and maybe need to fly somewhere but nothing is certain. So if that happened can I ask for a reschedule or do I have to drop everything and go whenever they say I have ? One more thing, is the third interview like the second or a mix of the first and second? I mean do I have to prepare for in-depth questions in my field or is it just like the personal interview and i don't really need to. And what did they ask you? I have had the first interview and after two weeks they sent me an email about the personal interview. about a week later I've received the personal interview invitation. I hope that answers your first question."do you know if I will get rejected cause I couldn't speak like a human being?" I don't really know what they are looking for in that interview but I think you were fine. I think that they know you won't be the perfect interviewee and things will not be perfect. I really think the personal interview is about seeing that you are who you say you are. not someone else trying to use someone else's credentials. I think that if you passed the first interview( and you did) then there is nothing to worry about.but thats my opinion.rnthe third interview I think took around 10-15 mins or maybe less. it was straight forward, nothing special.I did not take any english exam as I graduated from an American University. I think the first interview was everything you needed to worry about. that does not mean you can ruin the other interviews.rnIn regards to the medical form.. they just take your word for it for now but if you failed to mention anything then they have the right to revoke your acceptance, so don't even think about going there. R4 R4 R4 ! I have a question. a couple of questions actually. So, I had my second interview yesterday and in my opinion it went horrible unlike the first one cause I was confident and the professor was nice, however the interview I had yesterday was a mess , it was scheduled to start at 9 and I was waiting nervously since 8 and NOTHING, then I tried calling and emailing them and still nothing and after a while I got a call back from the number I tried and the lady asked for my info to ensure that I really have an interview and after a few calls she finally told me it might start after 10 cause they were interviewing a couple of ppl at a time.. and as soon as I was okay I'll chill now and left my laptop I heard the call, ofc I answered but I wasn't mentally ready. so I forgot how to speak xD literally! I was throwing words even though I know in my head that I could do better but that was it, I was nervous and i was smiling like an idiot trying to impress them but words won't connect into decent sentences so yeah.. so first question, do you know if I will get rejected cause I couldn't speak like a human being? I'm sure it's not as bad as I think it was but still.. and how many days did you wait in between the 2nd and third interview? also, how much time does the third interview and english exam take? I'm also saudi so I will have to take it there since I didn't do any other exam beside STEP and haven't submitted it. Also, what is the medical record? do I have to get checked or they will take my word for it? I'm too lazy to do that but I'm sure I have nothing to worry about al7mdollellah. And thanks!

good day everyone. I have been accepted at KAUST I had all the three interviews. my nationality is Saudi. my degree was obtained from the US The first interview (Academic via Skype) went very well, admission committee really went through my application and my CV and they have seen everything. they ask about everything they are interested in or need further explanation. like (How come you had a gap year) what is your ultimate dream/goal of course all of this in regards to your academic year and what was my research during undergrad school. it took around 30 mins, the professor who interviewed me was amazing. 1- he wanted me to speak about myself. 2- asked various things about what I do now and everything about me academically. 3- he asked me few easy science questions maybe to check my knowledge. the second interview was about a 2 weeks later, it was a personal interview via skype. they really want to know more about you. they want to know about what you do during your free time. i think it took around 7-10 mins nothing special. they asked me about what i do at my free time and i answered by saying that I play video games ( how stupid can a person be?) anyway, I think they liked me. the third interview ( face to face ) at KAUST, it was a mix of personal and academic interview. we sat at a conference room with two professors. they asked about things regarding my academic background and my personal and they asked about what I do at my free time and I answered the same thing before, video games even though I keep up with the latest research publication and study from time to time ( again, how stupid can a person be?). it took around 10-15 mins. overall it went very bad to me but I received my application decision! which was an acceptance and they have given me 14 days to accept or refuse.. few days later after I accepted I received a medical form and a personal form where I had to admit my legal documents like Saudi national ID (equal to passport) and a photograph. the medical document covered everything and I had to put a medical report about every individual medical problem I had, I didn't have any medical problem so no medical report was uploaded.I should mention that it took me about 40-50 mins to get a temporary pass from KAUST and reach the building where the interview was held so you should arrive at least an hour before the interview to make sure you're there on time. I don't want to share false information. this is why I didn't mention how I thought the interviewers felt when they heard my answers. overall, you guys should'nt be worried to much. your academic background will take care of you. if you were not accepted then it's really not the end of the world. I am sure many other places will be interested in you. interviewers know that you want to impress them and you may not provide the perfect answer don't worry they know that you didn't have important interviews to worry so much about like the ones you will have. be yourself! anyway if anyone had further questions I will provide as much support and answers as I can. I will be checking this post regularly for a week to provide answers as soon as possible. just put R4 somewhere so I can know.
