(Relpy to below question) Did not go to the recruitmemt weekend, but received an official letter at 2/11. And I heared from emory's graduate that about 8 were accepted. Probably waitlisted, if you haven't heared back from them yet.

Anyone who went to emory's recruitment weekend heard back yet?

Undergrad from a US university; masters from UK university

The offer made my day! Personalized, inofficial email from interviewers (had two Skype interviews with Emory) with 12months*5years funding package Committee chair told me that all of their PhD students are fully funded. Waiting for the details to come

the program arrange a skype interview for internatinals; no visitation.

Thrilled to be invited to a visitation weekend with full reimbursement (2/2-2/5).

Notified me that I am a top applicant. Offered to fly me into Atlanta to visit the program for the weekend and meet with the program

Interviews went fantastic, but was rejected in favor of multiple less qualified candidates. Why? Because I am 40 and not a minority. One professor even said to me that my age "definitely matters, even though it shouldn't." Keep in mind that these are *supposed* to be professional sociologists – the last group of people you would expect to engage in any kind of discrimination. I have never been so furious in my entire life. Shame on them.

For me, meh. Congrats to those admitted :)

Email from sociology program coordinator. Nice, very professional rejection.

After reviewing your application, we regret to inform you that YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US. ... obviously that's not what it really said. Master's GPA 4.0. Good luck to all the interviewees!

GPA is MA (Duke)
