The faculty committee for graduate admissions in the Computer Science Department at William & Mary met recently to finalize the first round of admission considerations for the 2025-2026 academic year. There were many applications from an outstanding group of potential graduate students. For this first round, the department is only able to recommend a very small number of applicants to our Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. The committee was unable to include you in the first round of recommendations. The Committee recognizes your potential and has judged your application favorably. It has therefore decided to place you on our waiting list for top consideration in our second round of admissions pending availability of funded positions. We understand that you are anxious to know when such decisions may be made, but we cannot predict ourselves when additional positions will become available. In the past we have been able to offer positions to some on the waiting list. We apologize for taking so long to give you the response from our committee. We do anticipate making several additional offers to new students and we had hoped to be able to do that in a timelier manner than has become possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We felt we should share the status of your application with you now, so that you can make the best decision for your own graduate studies.Please reply to this email to let us know if you would like to be considered in our second round. Consideration will begin immediately on a rolling basis and end on May 15.
