I emailed the graduate department asking for any updates on my status. They didn't respond but changed my status to rejected in the portal

Got an acceptance letter via email, saying to check the portal. Had a low GPA from beginning years of undergrad but made dean's list my final four semesters. CSU gave the opportunity to elaborate on how I would be successful in their program, and then accepted me a month later! 2a/1r/0w

Applied in 2019, was waitlisted then rejected then. Completed Social Service Worker diploma, waitlisted again Fall 2022.

Canadian! Does anyone have information/experience about being on this waitlist? I am curious about how long it may take to hear back, if I do.
