Emailed for an update, then received a generic rejection email.

The email mentioned they had more than 190 applicants

Email from WGS department

GPA is masters. Received rejection by direct form email.

Highly competitive program with over 190 applicants. Good luck.

I am sorry to inform you that we are unable to admit you to the Ph.D. program in Communication and Media. You should not view this as a reflection on your ability: we received over 190 applicants this year, and the limited size of our program means that we can admit only a small percentage from this very strong pool. The process of selecting students for the incoming class is one that our admissions committee takes very seriously. We must make fine distinctions among highly qualified applicants, many of whom could be successful in our program. We regret that in so doing, we must turn away many candidates with whom we are impressed. I hope that you receive a more favorable decision from another program and that you will continue to pursue your interest in Communication and Media.

Received via email, once again its not showing in the portal.

Tbh a bit surprised they waitlisted me I thought I’d be rejected from this one flat out

huge bummer. best of luck to others!

boilerplate rejection

Very kind rejection email. Can't be too mad/sad about it because of how thoughtful and respectful it was. Congrats to anyone who received an acceptance letter!! ❤️
