TTPB: (McGill Physics PhD): What area did you apply to? Is it High Energy theory by any chance?

Got accepted a few days ago, but will likely be declining. Originally applied to the MA stream but was contacted and asked if I would be interested in the MEd stream because there weren't enough supervisors. I intend to pursue my PhD in school/applied child psychology so I need a thesis-based program and the research courses offered aren't enough to build a competitive application (plus non-existent opportunities for funding).

Officially accepted via email, I guess I was informally accepted early January, but confirmed with my PI to attend McGill last week! (Note: the portal/application status has yet to be updated) Good luck to everyone! Bonne chance!

It was a long shot given they use cumulative rather than sub-GPAs. Had solid volunteering, SLP and academic references, and research experience. I would say the GPA needs to get you in the door, then they look at all your other materials. Best of luck everyone!

MEd - General Educational Psychology

To the post below, I received the letter on 19th, but it is general program MEd) instead of learning sciences concentration.

got an email stating decision has been made. refusal letter in uapply portal stating the program is highly competitive.

(Ignore wistlist please) Did anyone get an update from Educational Psychology? They would send an email for 'recommendation for acceptance' first. Did anyone receive that already?

I was not initially accepted and was put on the wait list in February. But this week I was contacted by the department to say that I was the first person they were able to contact from the waiting list and they could offer me a place.

Accepted via e-mail. Formal offer & details coming over the next 2 weeks.
