Received an email from a faculty a few days before, and told me I have been recommended. However, I received an email from admission office today and told me I am on the waiting list.

Invited to an interview

The composition faculty would like to invite you to an interview with us on Saturday February 10.

MA GPA: 4.0. Email with PDF attached. So thrilled!

"I am writing to you on behalf of the Composition and Rhetoric PhD admissions committee in the Department of English, University of Wisconsin-Madison. The faculty members have completed their review and have asked me to inform you that your application was not one of those chosen for admission. We certainly regret that we could not send better news. Your interest in our program and the effort you made to apply are very much appreciated. Please understand that we received many impressive applications, but we are only able to offer admission to the strongest few. The committee and I wish you the best in your future academic pursuits and thank you once again for your application."

My first acceptance!!

Standard rejection email. 0a/1r

email from the grad coordinator. it always happens in January...

E-mail to check website. Disappointed, but not surprised. Yale is like lotto - you have to play to win. It was worth a shot.

E-mail informing me of being put on the wait list, however no indication of where I am on that list.

Knew this one was coming, but it gives me an excuse to eat that pint of ice cream in my freezer.

generic email from the school (not dept)
