I called them today and Steve told me that reviewing applications is taking longer than usual and for master applicants there are going to be admissions. He said that they will roll out the results as soon as possible but he had no clue of the exact time. I think if the rest of us were rejected they'd just say it., but they are not. | ||||

Hopes crashed, dreams shattered. Not admitted in the last wave of admits. Research interests perfectly aligned with those of PoI. Invalidated 1/7 of the results of one of his projects funded by a $500k NSF grant, and the main-author acknowledged the mistake. If that is not good enough for them to admit an MS student, I don't know what is. Had applied for the Network Systems track. I had wrongly assumed that top researchers are genuinely interested in their work. It seems some of them are driven by the 'publish or perish' culture. I know that finding mistakes in a paper presented at a top-5 conference is not indicative of my research-ability, but it does not mean I am a nitwit either. Hugely disappointed in UCLA, and myself. | ||||
