Who knows when we'll find out now??? New York is supposed to get hit the worst by this snowstorm -- it could be several days before anyone comes into the office after today. They're getting up to 20 inches of snow tomorrow.

I know it's random/stupid to ask this question now, but can someone tell me what American universities (especially Columbia) actually look for ? Apart from really good writing skills, of course. The person below said he/shw knows he/she has a good chance of getting in; how do you know ? :) I feel I haven't really talked much about extracurricular activities, for example. I've also realised I made some typo mistakes in the application..😣 Despite getting it proofread many times!rnSorry again to ask this question now, but I feel I've already convinced myself that I've been rejected! This is ridiculous. They said the 15th -- now they're saying Friday. They have their decisions ready and they should be out by now. This is incredibly unfair to the 900+ people waiting. I hate bureaucracy so much!! But I have to say, the admitted dual degree poster saying that he got "Access Denied," definitely eased my nerves a bit -- thank you.

When I called, the receptionist said I would hopefully hear by Wednesday, but no promises because they haven't decided exactly when they will send decisions. I would commit to my other school if I thought I didn't have a chance at Columbia, but I know there's a shot so I can't commit elsewhere.

To the person who has to commit to another school by Wednesday: When you called today, did they make it sound like it definitely won't be until Friday?

What the fuck Columbia? This is not cool at all. People's lives are literally on hold here.

Hi all, I'm the dual degree admit from two fridays ago and came back to see if anyone had heard about funding. I'm sorry you're all still waiting. It's the fucking worst. At any rate, I can confirm that I also get "access denied" when I try to log in, so it clearly means nothing. Also, in response to a post below, I too have seen gradcafe cull non-decision-related posts (happened to one of mine for another school).

I just called and told them I have to commit to another university by Wednesday and I need my decision by then because I have a good chance at acceptance to Columbia too. Told me I'm out of luck and I'll have to wait until Friday, which means I'll have to ask for an extension to decide at my other school. Then I'll have one day to decide. This is a mess.

That's absurd! They promised to let us know by the 15th. Not by Friday. I'm honestly so irritated! I say we all start blasting their phones and telling them that we need to make decisions about other schools sooner.
