EECS (robotics), no interview but been working with a faculty

I was expecting something like this because I was not called for an interview. After all, Professors did not reply to my emails because I could not spend so much time digging up their work as I have a job.

GPA is Master's. No interview.

interview on January 24th with a very nice professor ! 9 month research experience in the US

On behalf of the Graduate Faculty in Computer Science, I regret to inform you that we cannot offer you admission to the Ph.D. Program in Computer Science for this year. We had a record number of applicants this year. Since the number of students who can be accepted is limited and the overall quality of applicants is very high, it is not possible to accept many excellent students who are interested in coming to Cornell. We appreciate your interest in Cornell and hope you will consider us again should you be on the faculty market in a few years! We wish you every success in continuing your studies at another university.

never wanted to go there anyways. never felt good about the entire department and their whole process. no regrets since I have a phd offer but I'll probably not do a phd since its not worth it in the end since academia is so cutthroat and my dream of becoming a prof at a good uni is as good as dead since my offer isn't from a top 5 place
