I received a personal E-mail from the chair of the department saying that my application to the PhD has been rejected, but it has been forwarded to be considered for the MA. I'm a Canadian student.

Checked the website based on the other results here. Deferred to MA program with no funding. Waiting to hear from a few other programs before I decide. Congrats to the accepted students!

Just happened to log into website and found my rejection. 1a/1w/6r. Going to UNC-Chapel Hill for Islamic Studies.

Deferred to MA with 1/2 tuition. Studied Biblical Languages at Moody Bible Institute. No publications and no formal background in ANE studies. Applying to a NELC PhD at Chicago was a complete Hail Mary, so I will probably accept the offer.

My understanding is that FLAS decisions haven't been made yet.

I'm one of the NELC admits, sorry I forgot to put my stats! MA GPA is 3.97, but I think it was really more about my recs and writing. Stipend is 23K + 3K summer + healthcare.

Congrats to the two of you who got into UChic NELC! Can you expand on the funding packages you were offered? And as well if you don't mind sharing GPA/GRE information. Job well done, congrats again!
