Unfortunately, your application has not been selected for an offer of admission. There were many strong candidates for admission this year, which made decisions difficult and time-consuming for the Committee. Your application was very well presented, and our inability to offer admission reflects the intense competition for a limited number of openings. You are to be commended for your achievements so far. Ignore WL. Has anyone else still not heard from Brown? There was one wave of acceptances and two waves of rejections, but I have still not heard anything since my interview and I was told I would hear by mid-march at the latest. Does anyone know if they are just waiting for spots to open up or what else is going on?

Ignore wait listed; Does anyone know what's happening with Northeastern. This is one of the earliest applications (Dec 1) I did and haven't received any notifications so far!

Undergraduate math with a GPA of 3.09,master physics with a GPA of 3.94. Probably, because of the some core courses that I could not take.

Applied to hep-th; Got an email "Thank you very much for your interest in the graduate program at the University at Albany. The admission committee is very impressed by your academic history, but unfortunately, we were not able to include you in the first round of offers. However, you are placed in our waiting list for the slots which may become available in the second half of April".

I had mailed the Graduate Program Assistant Emilio Salvia asking about the status of my application. I got the following reply - "You have been placed on the wait-list. Unfortunately, that means we cannot provide you with a decision yet. I apologize about this, and I know that it is annoying."

Ignore waitlist. Has anyone received offer from Columbia? I haven't seen many posts here. It would be weird if they haven't started sending offers in mid March. Thanks!

I received an email to check the status, but there is no update on the portal. Anyone else facing the same issue?

Unexpected :(

Ignore waitlisted. There will be ADDITIONAL offer coming at the end of March. Graduate Program has been sending email regarding encouraging "nonbinding status report" (not official declaration, but letting the school know applicant's interest) between March 7-March 21, so that they can "make additional offers to talented students toward the end of the admissions cycle". If you haven't heard from them, don't lose your hope! And for those accepted, we should notify the school of our plans between those days!

We have thoroughly reviewed your application, the supporting papers submitted on your behalf, and the recommendation made by the department to which you have applied. I regret to inform you that on the basis of this joint consideration, we are unable to approve your admission to graduate study. Graduate education is characterized by extremely small classes and close mentoring by faculty. As a result, programs have only a limited number of available positions. Each year we receive many more applications than can be accommodated; consequently, we are unable to admit many highly qualified students.
