For research-based

Undergrad in CS from low-tier midwestern R1. Did not submit GRE. No research experience. Rejected from MS but had application transferred to professional masters.

After careful review of your application to the Computer Science Master's degree program, the CSEN Admissions Committee is not able to offer you admissions to the Research Based Master's degree program. This year, the competition for admissions to the research based MS degree option was very high and a very limited number of students were selected for admission to this degree option. Admissions to the research based option is based on applicant's overall application, research experience and most importantly the research match with faculty advisors looking for specific background and skills and the research match. However, we are very impressed with your application/credentials and are interested in reviewing your application for the CSEN-MSCPS, course based degree option, therefore your application is now being moved from CSEN-MS to CSEN-MSCPS review team. You will see this change in your application portal. You will receive a decision after the review for CSEN MSCPS degree is complete by end of March. Students may switch from course based option to the research based option only once during their academic tenure here. In order to switch to the research based option, you will need to locate a CSEN faculty who is willing to serve as your research advisor and then submit a petition to the Graduate Committee. These petitions and reviewed and decided on a case by case basis. During the fall semester, there will be several pre-research advising sessions by faculties looking for research students, which will be your opportunity to learn more about research in the department, if you are interested switching options. You will hear from us regarding decisions by the end of March, 2021.

I was told by the department that all the admits would be likely rolled out by March 1st. Does anyone have any more information regarding this? Does it mean its a reject since I did not get any notification till now? Also, I can not find anyone else on gradcafe getting notified today.

Applied for the Masters with a research focus and got rejected from that. However I am still being considered for the course based masters degree.

No interview. To the poster below, did you send them an email asking about this situation? I sent an email last week but no response until now.

Does anyone happen to know if all MS/PhD decisions are out by now?

Being considered for course based MS instead

TTBP: The initials of my POI: R.M. Any idea when would the Ms results going to come out?

Notified by email shortly after interview. Great program and Uni. Very pleased.

No update yet. Just a question, Anybody who applied for MS in CS with Concentration in Security got acceptance?

TTBP: I have opted for PhD/Ms option. My POI said that she won't be taking any more students now. So, Ms results will be out around/after the last week of March.

TTPB: I too haven't heard from POI nor had any status update. Just to be clear, have you guys opted for Phd + MS option instead of only PhD?

sad :(
