"and it is with sincere regret".....crushed

Ignore the waitlist. Has anyone received the invitation for the 2024 Candidates Day?

I have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a one-year Master's degree in Computer Science (Conversion degree). I have four years of work experience as an SWE. I have no research experience outside of my dissertation and no publications. I have no TA experience.

Received an email with an attached pdf.

I don't know why but it was sure shot for me.

Both Undergrad and grad GPA are 3.5. Didn't get any interviews. Expected since the university is falling short on CS faculty.

MSc, Canadian applicant

I regret to inform you that we are unable to admit you to the Ph.D. Program in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Due to the large number of applications we receive we are unable to provide individualized feedback on your application. The Computer Science Department received over 1700 applications this year, and our program can support only a small number of new students. Unfortunately, this means that there were many highly qualified applicants we could not admit to our program. If you have applied to more than one program within the School of Computer Science, you will hear from each program individually. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
