Yes, was actually part of SVL till somewhat recently, now has their own separate lab at Stanford

TTPB: Does the interviewer work on Vision but not from Stanford Vision Lab? I got the interview from the POI in SVL mentioned in SoP

I applied to vision, got interview by someone from outside the group. Seems like interviews don't have to be POIs mentioned in the SOP.

Did anyone get an interview from the Vision group (SVL)?

I guess the interview was quite neutral. I was told that decision will be out in a couple of weeks.

To the Stanford posters who received interviews. How was the sentiment of the professor who interviewed you. Were they very excited to have you on board? Or did they just say that the decisions will be known later, without giving much soft signal.

Anyone got accepted into Systems/Architecture? No interviews, no emails and basically self rejecting every moment.

TTPB w.r.t Robotics: I applied but got neither interview nor acceptance. Self-rejecting at this point to maintain my sanity.

It is hard to believe they are still interviewing students... best of the luck everyone!

I can confirm that some internal students were not interviewed, but some were, like me. I also have no idea what role the interviews play in admission. And they seem not strictly standardized as their time range from 15min to 30min. Some are pretty formal some are not. Any one with more insights please share.

(add to my last post) The info is from last year. So it is possible that things are different this year.

I can confirm there are people who are accepted without an interview (source: someone who did a summer intern with a Stanford Prof). But I am not sure if it is because the POIs already know them (like my source, or Stanford undergrad/grad), or simply because their profiles are just too good.

TTPS: That sounds about right. My estimate is that around 40-60% will be selected from interviews. Do you have any idea how will they use the interview to evaluate us?

TTPB: I am not saying that interview is absolutely necessary. I am just saying that if you have interview, you should be in the final stage so there is a great chance you get admitted. It's also possible that you're on the shortlist but just not interviewed :)

TTPB: thanks for sharing all the details! In the past some people have been admitted without interview, but it sounds like this year interviews are necessary then?
