TTPB who got rejected from the Ph.D. program: Sorry fellow applicant. I have applied to the MS program and expecting a rejection today. Did you get a rejection email from the CS department or a status update on the application portal?

Got an offer through mail. No info about TA or RA. TTPB: Does UMBC initially offers the only admission? Do they inform the financial decision later?

Has anybody received an admit for Graphics and Vision stream?

TTPB: Would you mind sharing how do you know you are not getting any funding? afaik so far only a very small number of scholarships results are out.

I am the one who got rejected over the weekend. I chose Yale because it is a better Ivy overall (not by subject). I heard it is really easy to get into Columbia. It is a cash cow for them. The majority of the student body is international students from China. I am not looking to learn something from grad school since I already have 4 years of software engineering experience. I just want to add some prestige to my resume, which Yale provides better than Columbia IMO. If I were admitted by Oxford it would be a tough decision between Yale and Oxford, but Oxford made the decision for me lol.

TTPB: I guess this is a stupid question. I assume that if I don't receive any interview invitation at this point, it means I will be rejected (or ghosted). But knowing that tons of people are declining Oxford, should I hope a little bit more?

I see why so many of you go to USA. Much better CS research and salary in USA than UK. Unofficial admission, official one will be received next weekdays. Research experience (preprint paper), 2 research internships. Area: Computer Vision

Received admission offer and request for official documents and supporting documents of i20, but no funding decision yet.

Like most of you, POI provides no fundings, and tells me hes gonna to find any available for me but I also need to search other sources. Is it a common way to ask students to prepare self funding? I will go US anyway.

TTPB who was rejected: I highly doubt the credibility of your post. I applied for the Ph.D. program last year and the rejection mail was sent by the CS department. On the application portal, it just said "Program Review Complete - Contact your Proposed Program for Decision Information". And I don't mean that I am expecting a positive decision so close to the decision deadline, but AFAIK the rejection mail will be sent by the CS department.

Just checked Application Portal and saw rejected in Application Status. Emailed POI multiple times but got no reply. Tho she saw my mail multiple times. Atleast could have replied that she is not taking any students this year. Pubs in EMNLP and AAAI with extensive NLP research exp and interns from Big 4. This is the worst, This is the worst!!

Person who got rejected from Oxford, why are you choosing Yale? What's so great about their program over a place like Columbia, e.g.?
