Has anyone heard about graduate assistantships yet?

Last week (3/20), called graduate office & was told, the committee hadn't looked at any applications. follow up call with Gabriel Packard, he said notifications would go out at the end of April. given the expense, the lack of transparency, disorganiation & unaccountability in these program is amazing. That said, having gone to the open house, and heard Peter Carey speak, he sounded like many other clueless 60+ white dudes in Ivy Leagues.

Never ever apply without getting acceptance prior to admission from professors. Otherwise, you will not get admission. This is a funded program that means admission comes with funding. Faculties put emphasis only on research experience. If you have 3/4 research papers then you are in good position and try to approach professors. CGPA, TOEFL, GRE score doesn't matter. Dr. Xiaodong Liang is very choosy. If you don't get reply from her, then don't approach her 2nd time. Other professors are helpful. But, unfortunately, none of them didn't have any opening for a research assistantship.

Accepted, but no funding

To the Memphis poster, when I emailed the school they said that funding offers were sent to the top 5 applicants on March 2nd.

Does anyone know when we will hear about funding?

I was waiting for that.

$17,000/year merit based award. $3,000/year merit based assistantship. 2 going on 3 years of relevant work experience.

The middle of March has passed, but no info about financial aid yet. Has anyone receive anything or has more information?

Tough decision between Dartmouth and Duke. Waiting on JHU result. other acceptances from USC and Purdue.

Out of field, 3.6 GPA undergrad, 3.82 GPA in UNCG prerequisite program, 2 years research experience, completed a thesis, average GRE scoresrn
