Second time applying. I missed the deadline but still submitted because they were accepting apps and had a fee waiver. Very much expected. This was also my fourth time applying to Yale (undergrad, Transfer, graduate + graduate). It was never meant to be.

"Your application has been unsuccessful to this course" Did not receive email but did receive a weird survey to complete? So I checked the portal and saw the rejection

Rejected the PhD program, but give me an offer of Master of Statistics

The number of applicants to this program was over 800.

Unofficial offer via email. On waitlist of funding

On track for a high first class honours from Cambridge Math with a first class in every course taken thus far, 2 finance internships, and 1 open-source data science project with >100 stars (definitely over 1k users) on Github, but was still expecting a rejection as this program is ultra competitive and I had 3 super generic LORs and no research experience/publications.

No publications, 2 YoE, leadership in undergrad
