This was a long shot for me, I wasn't expecting much but I got into CMU MSCS anyways so I'm okay with this. Profile: math & CS undergrad at no name school barely top 600 school, 2 FAANG swe internships, 1 T1 research internship, 4yrs TA. Congrats to admits :)

I'm in shock... I applied mainly to PhD programs this round, and this was my only MS application and also my only acceptance (!!). I'm applying straight from undergrad at Berkeley with an unconventional interdisciplinary CS-focused background. I thought that that would be a turn-off but I guess they liked it? I also got a TAship that covers tuition plus a $12,900/quarter salary. I had 4 significant research experiences throughout undergrad, 2 were in CS but not super technical and all were CS-adjacent. I had 1 first-author paper at an ACM conference which won Best Paper, and I had another one in preparation at the time of the application (currently have 4 in prep, 1 under review). Did not submit GRE.

2 research papers 1.5 years TA

No email was received, status updated on portal. DR < 5 at Top IIT, 1 submission under review at ACL, no research internships.

GRE not required. Non-IIT/BITS/NIT BTech CSE from India, department rank 2. 3 internships (4th one ongoing) and 4 papers. Was a long shot! Congrats to all the admits!

Non-traditional candidate

No email received and see the rejection in my portal. 3 strong LOR from UIUC and 2 papers related to AI and Robotics in submission.

Multiple Patents Multiple Papers, including 1 at tier 1 ML conference Top Rank at College

Top 10 CS school, FAANG internships, near 4.0 major GPA, couple years of research but no pubs. No email got sent, but just checked portal and saw rejection.

I did not receive any email, but I just checked my portal and the status was updated. Congrats to everyone who got admitted :)

Two papers do not help.

6 month research internship at an International University. 2 papers under review. Working as MLE at a Indian startup. 9.25Gpa from (Tier 2 University)

Received an email to check portal. Tbh I thought they would reject me. First attempt 162Q 150V 5.0AWA and Second attempt 159Q 157V 5.5AWA. 0 research experience (besides a research project?) and 0 publications. 2 medium LOR and 1 weak LOR (all 3 from professors only 1 of which teaches CS).

For those who admitted to MS CS, did your portal checklist disappear? And when you got the admission?
