Anybody from POLIS, preferably MPhil candidates, heard anything about funding? Any emails with awards or so? It seems that the strike is slowing the department down considerably, but not sure if anyone heard anything. I'm an EU student, accepted on Feb 22 and allocated a place at Girton College. Thanks!

So I am a current European Politics student at Oxford and I hate to see all of you politics applicants suffer like this especially as I recommended this site to some of you. Here is the low-down from when I spoke to the administrators in the DPIR, the admissions committee was delayed by strikes, furthermore several members of staff are sick. You will most likely hear back either Thursday/Friday of this week or Monday/Tuesday next week. Calling the department will not change this, everyone will hear about their result at the same time. MSC's can expect to hear back earlier. Stop checking your email every 20 mins, good things come to those who wait. best of luck to all and I hope to see you next year!

Offered AHRC studentship this morning.

I am refreshing my email every 15 minutes. This wait is a huge pain, I wish they made it bit more transparent by giving a specific deadline. Any updates from my fellow DPIR applicants?!

To the post below: From CT's website: If they succeed in securing funding from the research councils, then the CT would offer them a "honorary status" without renumeration. IMO, CT funding is more difficult as you are entering into competition with the whole university for 250 places (CIS).

Been waiting GAO approval for a month, and now asked to be interviewed. (though interviews are not part of selection process). Anyone ever been through the same?

Accepted but no scholarship offered. Will decline for better offers. 330+ GRE, 4 years of full-time work experience, 5 years living abroad, speak 2 languages.

Not expected.

Disappointed to be honest, although I was still not expecting much from it.

Emailed a notification to check application status. Found I was rejected for PhD but accepted for MA. Also in at St. John's MA program for Government & Politics. Unofficially in for Fordham's MA IPED (received phone call from Director of IPED asking if my GI Bill would cover tuition or would I need funding). Very happy to be in at NYU. Waiting on Columbia MA for Political Science after being rejected for PhD.

In response to the below: so if everyone is nominated for the Trusts , what is the deal with the research councils? are they more difficult to get nominated for? and if so, would someone nominated for a research council be more likely to get Trusts funding than someone eligible for ESRC/AHRC (UK/EU) but who was not nominated. Department told me wait for CT too, I might add.

Has anyone heard from the PhD programme at SOAS for Politics and International Studies? Anxiously awaiting, though I haven't heard of anyone receiving notification yet.

To the poster below: I emailed the department before and they told me to wait for the results of Cambridge Trusts, so I'll assume I have been put forward for that (though it appears almost everybody is nominated for that- it's their central funding competition if I'm not mistaken).

To the POLIS poster below - I don't think the department has told anyone who has been nominated for funding. It hasn't come up on here or the Student Room. Did you speak to the department about it? Do you think they would tell us if we ask whether or not we were nominated?
