to the poster below me, which group decided not to accept anymore students? (& yet still advertised themselves as open prior to the app deadline)

I didn't really care to post here because it's already over... and I was just using this site to get an idea of when I can expect decisions. But enough is enough, there is a trend here... I had a very similar experience to below posters. LLK was also one of the groups I aimed for, but the main group I aimed for decided not to take any new students and let me know in mid-March, not responding to e-mails for two months prior. I didn't even get a fair chance at showing more interest to my other two groups. Communication was nonexistent, and they didn't have the respect to let me know of the decision ASAP... I live in Boston and the snail mail rejection arrived six days after it was printed... it's been a nightmare, and a long one at that. Good luck to everyone.

They really jerked me (and it looks like a lot of people) around. First they abolished CMS (my first pick) AFTER i applied. Then they drew out this notification system for no reason at all. Lifelong Kindergarten was what i aimed for, as well as camera and computing culture. I had perfect grades in separate degrees in media and engineering (signal processing), and i was even using their SCRATCH program in a little different way to set up media training centers for impoverished kids around the world. Even if i got rejected they could have had the decency to be much more communicative through the whole process.

No email, unclear what I should do next. This was the only program I could apply for because of funding...

I can barely begin to express my disappointment with this program. I interviewed at my preferred lab (this involved 7 hours of scheduled meetings/interviews), and the PI told me to e-mail him with any additional questions in the next couple of weeks. A few days later, I e-mailed him with some supplementary materials and a couple of questions, and he NEVER responded, even after I sent another follow-up e-mail. This program has very little respect for its applicants and students; it seems to focus primarily on pumping out flashy inventions/toys, instead of teaching its students in a supportive research environment.

will receive postal mail soon.

Hooray!!

This solves nothing! I would prefer to go here but have to let other schools know by April 15th.

Wow!! I shall wait and pray!

Notified a few minutes ago via an attached PDF with a hard copy letter coming. Wait List will be reviewed after April 15 and members of the list will be notified of their final admission status by May 1.

To the poster below for MIT Media Art and Science which group had u applied to and do you know if all the groups have given admits?

Am I awake?

Letter said they accepted 10% of applicants for 2008.

Dated 3/26.

Had interviews with two groups, nobody was clear on who/what was in charge of the admissions decision. Communication was very one-way. Not worth the $70

Which school would people possibly choose over Media Lab?

Fuck.
