Rejected to the PhD. Accepted to the Master of Social Sciences program with a tuition fee exemption

Wanted to post as a cautionary tale. I have an MA, 4.0 in all graduate courses, two publications, strong letters, and have a 170/168/6.0 GRE breakdown. However, I attended and then withdraw a previous PhD program - and did not clarify the circumstances in my SOP. (At the advice of my referees). I was unfortunately rejected from every program to which I applied, even those ranked lower than the institution I left. When I inquired with the programs as to the reasons for my rejection, *every* one listed a concern for my ability to finish the program and confusion over whether I was leaving my current program after four years. If you've been rejected, reread your SOP with a critical eye and ensure it explains any potential misgivings an adcomm may have! I wish I did.

Wow. Took nearly two months to reject me. A good program would have rejected me weeks ago. Lol, jk. I know now that I submitted a trash my SOP and writing example. My bad. Congrats to those who got in! (email to check portal)

Well, that's a wrap folks! Verdict is 4 acceptances out of 10 applications, with two of them in the top 20! I am overjoyed, though more acceptances would have been nice too. Good luck to those still in the waiting game. Looking forward to seeing those who will be starting this year! Cheers.

Got an email to check the portal. Like another person said, I also thought this would be more of a safety school, but oh well. They admitted me to their MA program (won't be attending because it's a lot of $$)
