The usual: So many qualified applicants! Whatever.

The rejection letter was written on the 4th of February and sent on the 9th. It arrived on 26th/ I wish they had sent an e-mail at first hand.

I knew it was coming, but it was my dream school! It stings a little.

Just expected.

Email stated that only 19 out of 199 were accepted and that my application was given careful consideration, but regretfully denied. It also noted that they would keep my application with them for two years and that if I would like to reapply in two years, I will just have to fill out one form with any new information I'd like to add to my file.

They admitted only 13 of 199.

I called Ned, apologized profusely for pestering him, and asked if I could get my rejection confirmed, because I was leaving for the next couple weeks. Oddly, he cheered me up. Definitely the guy you want crushing your dreams.

I have noticed that others who have applied for the graduate program at Berkeley have heard back. Did you email Ned? I'm trying to fight the urge to email him and be patient, but I'm dying on the vine (although I know acceptance is an unlikely outcome).
