I had received an offer on 15 March and was asked to wait for 2 weeks for funding information. The discussions clearly pointed that the department gives guaranteed funding for 5 years to all admitted students. But I had to wait as they were trying to secure funding. After two months of waiting, I was informed that the funding was declined which essentially means I cannot join the program.

Finally got a decision from them after asking several times with no responses ... I was apparently on a waitlist but obviously did not get off it. Glad to finally have all my decisions! 4A/4R

Wish I’d been rejected back in February like Binghamton did. This just felt like false hope.

Received personal e-mail stating that I had been accepted with full funding (graduate tuition fellowship + 26K stipend each year). Had thought this was a lost cause, but I was wrong. For those still waiting to hear back, hold on and don’t give up hope!

Was on the waitlist. I had a Skype talk with director of graduate studies (she's also one of my POIs) yesterday and received offer of admission and funding info just a few hours later! Super excited!!!

Emailed to ask for application update, was informed I had been rejected. Was told my writing sample was impressive, but they wanted higher GRE scores. Only 5 accepted this application cycle.

Emailed that I had been taken off the waitlist for funding. I didn’t even know I had been waitlisted/accepted. 15k plus tuition stipend. I will be rejecting this offer though so if you haven’t heard anything keep your eyes peeled!

Rejected today with a general email. I though I had a shot off the waitlist. Fit is important, but having an excellent GRE also matters, I guess. Congratulations to the new cohort, you´ll do great there.

To USC or UCI (or anyone else) applicants, if you've not heard yet, it's possible that you're on the waitlist. Call the office directly to find out. Many programs have decision deadlines coming in the next two weeks, so it's likely that if you have not yet been rejected that you are on a waitlist and that they are just waiting for people to decide where to go! Don't lose hope yet!
