Somewhat expected after not hearing back from the program since applying in December. Admission status portal still isn't/hasn't changed to reflect the rejection.

Has anyone asked about waitlist rankings at MSU? Also, did everyone get told they have a reasonable chance of receiving an offer?

I received notice that I have been rejected. EMU had less offers of admission than faculty who interviewed applicants, and the faculty I interviewed with was unable to make any offer of admission. PI: MB

Got into CMU, UBC and Purdue. Also made it into the final round for MIT. Clearly the result was biased and the fact that all admits (except 2) to this program (PhD, F21) are either american or have a masters from the US is not a coincidence

POI said they received funding for more students recently

Received a generic rejection email from the BME Grad Officer. Same old reasons- Limited seats, High Pool of applicants etc. Kinda expected this.

Really disappointed... top choice and had a really good interview.

Re: Waitlisted. Anyone heard anything from the institute. My god , this year is depressing!!!!!!!!! Waiting for almost a month. Anyone has any idea how many students are waitlisted ????

[Not Waitlist] TTPB: UMich has a strange policy regarding the funding of Ph.D. Students. As far as I know, prospective advisors have to arrange the funding for the entire 4 years (~200k) when accepting students. In most schools, only the funding for the first year is guaranteed, and advisors arrange fundings yearly (~50k). Thus, funding is probably problematic for most of the groups, and they are waiting for some admitted students to decline the offer to send new offers.

To the three posts below me regarding Michigan Ann Arbor, same here. I applied to power and energy track, and from the results on this site, not many have been selected on that track. Someone even mentioned here that maybe that group doesn't have funding

To the WTF dude: I am pretty sure they are waiting for the admitted students to report their decision. Therefore, the professors can still find students in the wait listed pool if the student they gave an offer decline it.

Wtf is going on? Have had 0 communication from the dept or the profs. Does anyone have any clue what's taking them so long to roll out the decision? It's already April 1!!!
