according to them the number of applicants during the second round is larger comparing to the first one, so the applicant compete with a more competitive applicants. My application is still shows that the material is needed, is it the same in yours?

Well, so sad.

Email asking me to check the online portal.

Got email to check decision on website

3+ years research experience, 3 summers of research internships, 2 accepted publications, 1 submitted publication

to the UPenn posters below: I have not received any updates either. I applied to work in Theory/Algorithms, and also noted that I would like to learn more about their ML program, and Computational Learning Theory before making a decision... From talking with professors at my college, I'm pretty sure we can consider ourselves wait-listed.

To the poster below, my status still says "ready for review".

Is there anyone who is still waiting to hear back from the Penn CIS PhD program??? I saw a lot of people heard back a few days back. I still have not received any news.

Emailed notification, decision letter on application. "many more highly qualified candidates than we had room to admit."

Expected :)

one journal publications, one top conference paper in submission, one year research experience in related field.

An email to check the portal. Very generic rejection email uploaded out there.

Second Decline! One of my top-list schools.

didn't expect rejection :)
