Accepted with funding info to follow. Good luck everyone 2a/1r/3p

I'm in Shock. Wow. Congrats to all other admits!!! I received an email from the chair of the admissions committee.

Email with official offer letter attached - Elated, this was my top choice!

I received the letter 2/12 but didn't realize because it was marked as spam. I received information for visiting in March on 2/14.

Missed call yesterday. They followed up with email and official offer letter today.

No Explanation. "Thank you for your application to the Ph.D. in Sociology program at the University of British Columbia Vancouver Campus for the term beginning September 1, 2020. We regret to inform you that your application for this graduate program was not successful. Each year, many good applicants are declined admission to the University of British Columbia. Common reasons for declining applicants include unavailability of appropriate faculty advisors and/or funding for the applicant, an applicant’s less competitive academic record, and simply the limited number of spots available in graduate programs.Due to the significant number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide applicants with specific explanations for being declined. We wish you well in your future endeavors. Thank you for your interest in pursuing graduate studies at the University of British Columbia. Yours truly"

Not surprised. still waiting for my offer.

Kind email, short waitlist, hoping a slot opens up!

Apparently they did not want to be my Valentine. Current undergrad at Ivy with related major, 2 peer-reviewed pubs (1 in Q2 journal, 1 in undergrad journal), 2 conferences, minimal contact with one prof via email before applying, related activism, no formal RA/TA experience, coming off med leave

They only have 3 admissions spots available. I wonder how many applicants were waitlisted.

Wondering how many wait-listed candidates end up getting offered a place...

Did not even send an email. Checked the website randomly to find the disappointing result.
