"We will let you know the status of your application by April 18 at the latest, and sooner if relevant information becomes available" Okay but I need to accept other offers by the 15th??

Told POI last week that I had accepted another offer, so I was expecting a rejection. Somehow this is more disappointing because it seems that information wasn’t considered.

Has anyone heard back from MIT on the Building technology PhD? I saw a previous poster had noted that admin said that everyone should know by mid-march. Have any acceptances/rejections gone out?

The number of applicants for admission to the Graduate School greatly exceeds the number which can be accommodated and it has been necessary to refuse admission to some fine applicants. Several of my friends were accepted to this program, and not surprisingly, they are all of the highest caliber. Congratulations to all those who earned admission. You are all superstars!

To the posters below: Was the notification via mail or web? I have not received any update yet for both.

Applied for AOC division; subject gre is physics. According to the e-mail, the primary culprit was a decline in federal funding. Process was extremely late this year (possibly due to funding issues?); the department typically commits to releasing all results by March 15th.
