Emailed the department and got my acceptance letter for the MSt in Modern Languages emailed to me 2.5 hours later! SO ECSTATIC!! Got the same message as the poster below re: IT delays in graduate admissions. No funding info - email states, "Please be aware that we cannot answer Funding queries as it is the Humanities Division or Central Funding who both make these decisions and inform the recipients, not the Graduate office." | ||||

To poster below about the Ertegun scholarship: I applied but did not hear back from them yet. I also don't know what to think... The website seems to say that decisions are in progress but someone on a forum emailed them and they replied that he has not been selected. Does this mean that they already decided and contacted the successful candidates...? I really don't know. My Dept Letter said nothing about it though. What was written on yours? | ||||

Got this response after emailing them for decisions: "Thank-you for your e-mail sent through with regards to your graduate application outcome. All outcome letters are currently being sent out to applicants. It is likely that you will now hear from Tuesday onwards, due to Friday and Monday being bank holidays." GAH | ||||

From their email: "Earlier this year, Graduate Admissions (the department whom you applied online through) experienced severe IT problems, resulting in delays for them and a knock on effect for the Faculty convenors and assessors, in both receiving and thus assessing application dossiers. We are therefore several weeks behind where we would normally be at this time of year and apologise to you for the delay in notifying you of your application decision." | ||||

Is Oxford on break now? If so till when? I tried emailing my department but sis not receive a response. I have an offer of admission and I need to respond by April 20. Should I wait till I am sure I have funding or is it understood that I will withdraw my acceptance if funding does not come through? I am from the US where admissions and funding come together we so I don't understand this system... | ||||

I emailed to ask when decisions would be sent out, and recieved my rejection letter (dated March 16th) attached to an email. It's Oxford so of course I'm not too devastated. Congrats to those accepted. | ||||

Rang the office to ask when we'd hear back. Was told that I could expect to hear back within the week or next week, which was the same thing they said last week and the week before. Have no idea why it's so hard for them to send out a (presumable) automated rejection email, as I have other offers on hold - or why they can't be more forthright about when we should hear back. Very unprofessional attitude IMO, but I guess they're allowed do what they want with us since they're Oxford... | ||||
