Generic rejection email. Not trippin, already got into my top choice

Not a surprise--congratulations to all admits.

I'm not one of the original posters but I was similarly rejected from Columbia's PhD program yet accepted to the MA. Wanted to note that I had submitted an application to both the PhD program and the MA program, rather than having only submitted a PhD application and then accepted to the MA after being rejected. Email notification -> on website, there was a new application created "Fall 2020 MA" whereas before both applications were grouped under a single "Fall 2020 PhD". Letter says: While the faculty of the Department of Sociology was not able to offer you admission to its doctoral program, it has decided to offer you admission to the MA program, beginning in the Fall 2020 semester. Although your application to the doctoral program was strong, the Faculty Admissions Committee was able to admit only a small percentage of this year's extremely competitive PhD applicants. The program to which you have been admitted culminates in the degree of Master of Arts.

No word on funding yet, which will be a determining factor, but I am very pleased with this acceptance. It was my top choice!

No specific funding information on my decision letter.

Thankful for the rejection, makes my decision easier. Congrats to all admits!!!

To the post below, I have heard anything from BC as well.

To the two people below who said they've been admitted to the Columbia master's program, what did your letter say?

To the post below, I haven't heard anything from USC at all either.

For the post below, I think I have the same situation since I try to call them on the phone, but there is no one answer. If there is anything, it is just a mailbox mentioning that they will call later asap. However, it has been some days already, and I still have not received any response.

Email to check online. Second rejection!

Email to check the website portal. Due to my request in my application, my app has been sent to another MA/MSc program co-organized between Columbia and LSE for review. Cautioning that there will not be fellowship provided even if accepted.
