Yikes. I click on "Decision Status" and see "Unfortunately your application into M.F.A. in Writing Seminars has been denied." You would think a WRITING DEPARTMENT would find a more thoughtful way to break the news. Bleh.

Poster below: I assume you have time before making final decisions. Since you've been accepted at multiple programs and waitlisted at fully-funded programs, it seems like you can write! While you wait it out research further funding options. Consider your pre-MFA student debt. If you can swing it, go for it. If you really can't, take this round as confirmation of your ability and wait out another year, take classes, improve your writing, try again December '18 for fully funded programs.

Got off the waitlist at WVU! Had all but given up hope! Very excited with this news!

Looking for advice: I've been accepted to multiple programs without funding and waitlisted at 2 with full funding. I understand that conventional wisdom says that it's not a good idea to pay tuition for an MFA, but I'm desperate to quit my job and this seems like the best option right now. Thoughts?

Those who are familiar with at least the reputation of the program - how is the Hollins Fiction program nowadays? I know it was a stellar program in the past, but now there is so much uncertainty around it. I've bee accepted both to Hollins and NC Wilmington (as well as to Minnesota Mankato), all with funding, and I have such a hard time to choose. Please advise! Thank you.

Anyone still waiting on VCU? I emailed them maybe two weeks ago and they said they were still working on notifications. I'm wondering if they were done with acceptances or not.

Did anyone else hear from Georgia College for the fiction program? I saw one notification yesterday on here and it's been making me sick, because that's where I want to go!!!

Said 5 were accepted and that I was placed high on the waitlist. Will be awaiting news, although I can't imagine anyone not going once accepted.

Any word on Alabama this late in the game? Do they triage applications, read until spots are full, and sit on the rest? Looks like they're done admitting. All e-mails to the English department have gone unanswered. ???

I already posted (no worries !!! Not one more wait listed person) but wondering - how common is it to get off the wait list? I really want to go!
