Had 3 great interviews. 3 great LoRs, 2 different research, no publications. Excellent academic record from not so known university. I guess publications and/or having done research at least one summer with a well-known professor from a well-known university are crucial part of this period. Good luck to all admitteds! Really upset for not being one of them :(

Unexpected, but incredibly happy as it was my first choice! Computer Engineering student from an alright university in Southern Italy (401-500 on THE). 30/30 GPA, further corroborated by excellent GRE (170Q, 168V). 3 recommendation letters from my brofessors (maths, CS and EE). A few personal projects, one very large and spanning nearly two years before release (though it's more CS than EE). I thought I was out due to not having any research experience (despite really looking forward to getting some) but that was not the case :D Going into Computers and Networks spec.

Applied to direct PhD in ECE. Received email with positive decision(no funding mentioned yet). No interviews taken before admit offered, lab told to reach after admits- Now in discussion with the prof for RA position in the lab. Interest Area: Image Processing. One friend also received admit on same day. All the best to all other applicants :)

Applied for direct PhD in ECE. Got email to check decision letter on the website. Specialisation area- CCSP. Nothing mentioned about funding yet. Same day one of my friend also received admit. In discussion with one Prof. for supervision. All the best to all applicants!

Did they send out all the admits for the Electrical Engineering Ph.D. program. Last year, there was a wave of admits around this time. I am unsure, at this point, it can only mean rejection.

TTPB: Is this related to Urbana-Champaign campus or Chicago?

TTPB: that shouldn't be correct, I had an interview last week with a PI, and she said I am the second person whom she has interviewed with and she will continue to have more in the two or three weeks. Don't lose hope and keep contacting your PI.

TTPB: My friend who is actively contacting her POI was told that more than 90% of decisions had been notified until the last week and those small remaining positions are reserved for their own UG students.

I applied for PhD in ECE, but they rejected me for that and offered me Masters admission. won't be accepting as I have better PhD offers.

avg GPA, multiple first author publications, great letters of rec including one from a well known prof at Berkeley. i think my GPA screwed up my chances :(
