Amazing contact with POI in the fall, excellent GPA, great references, and a Canadian MA. All this got me was a generic three sentence rejection letter and complete radio silence from the department this month. Probably the most unprofessional rejection I've ever received, so this is most likely for the better.

Emailed POI to confirm application status. Very nice reply, saying I had a good application, but not the right fit at this time.

With grad assistantship-- pinch me I'm dreaming :)

Like everyone else I received the email that said that the status had changed, checked spire, and it hadn't. called dept and they said I had not been admitted: "It had nothing to do with your application, we only had ten spots this year and we received hundreds of applications". Um, it had everything to do with my application, otherwise I would have been admitted. ;_:

Same as the last few posts: received an email, status still said applied, so I called.
