Notified I "made the second cut" of their "very competitive pool of applicants" and that they are nominating people for fellowships and forming wait lists. They hope to enroll 13 students this year, and have 9 full fellowships with stipend and 4 that are tuition only (all for 5 years).

To the query of Johns Hopkins below- Thanks! Got notified through an informal email from POI. It is one of the two top choices I had. I declined with a heavy heart and taking up Yale. Best wishes to the waitlisted candidate.

Have a BA in Archaeology from University of Toronto, but I'm an US Citizen. I was told in previous emails that its very competitive for US students, so I wasn't super hopeful.

To the poster below - Congratulations! I just had my interview. Any clue as to why they're staggering out interviews/acceptances? How does this work?!

Checked the website randomly and noticed that it said I was not admitted. No email or anything though, so if you applied, check the website.

No word here either even after politely reaching out to the department. Expecting a rejection now but I feel like a generic letter in March is a pretty lame way to receive a rejection so I'm hoping for an email soon.

3rd rejection waiting on 5 schools. Same error in letter as others but def nicer than UCB.

Mine is still 'under review' as well. Since one person was notified about being waitlisted I think we are rejected but not yet notified.

Though I applied for the PhD program, I received an automated letter of rejection for the MA program (as did many others). Stanford really doesn't seem to have their shit together this year.
