Passed the pre-application, and did not invite for interview. Wish did not pass the pre-application...

Can I know when you got the invitation to open house and do you mean by open house. Is it like an interview or an discussion forum. I got an email from the department and not able to understand if its an info session or an interview.

To the poster below, I had two interviews with 2 professors, and 1 interview with a graduate student is still pending. Both the interviews were super informal, and I believe it went pretty well (but it's hard to say for informal interviews given there are around 100 interviewees). One of the professors was from my selected list in the application, while the other one wasn't.

Excited and surprised by the fast decision since the application was due barely a month ago in December. Stats: Did not take GRE, 3.6+ GPA

Is an interview necessary for an offer? My POI says there is still a couple of weeks to wait for all applicants to be reviewed. Just curious what takes so long.
