"Write out of urgency. "We look for writing that feels indelibly alive." what are you even talking about

Personal note from Samantha Chang. “Thanks for the strong application.”

Had totally accepted the likelihood of clean sweep rejections, but got the phone call today. I received the same info as the other poster: they're accepting 2 fiction applicants out of ~200. 8r/1a/2p

dying because they only accept one applicant per genre so I was not expecting this at all.

I was accepted to the summer 2022 program by phone and then by email! I'm so happy!

"I'm writing to notify you that you have been waitlisted for admission with a Teaching Assistantship at the University of New Mexico's MFA Program in Creative Writing. The Fiction admission committee was extremely impressed with your application, and you should feel good about this recognition. UNM's MFA Program is very small and, consequently, extremely competitive, and there's still a good chance that you will be admitted with funding." Said they'd let me know one way or the other by April 15.

I received an acceptance letter from the graduate department through email. I don't know what the funding situation will be, but the letter says the program will contact me soon! 2a/2r/3p

The most polite rejections out of the rejections I received. Kudos to them for humanely putting down my dreams. I was really hoping for this one due to their publications, but it's not meant to be. I think I'll be closing out another year with no hope for an admittance. Waiting for Brown and Virginia Tech, but acceptances have already gone out for them. 1a/0w/5r/2p. (1a is from a program with a funding waitlist with little movement). See everyone next year?

Dear Katelyn, The Creative Writing faculty has made its selections for incoming MFA candidates, and I am sorry to say that we cannot offer you a place in the program at this time. These decisions were more difficult than ever because of our commitment to being a fully funded program. In fact, this year the program could only admit 7 students out of more than 300 applicants. That means we have had to turn away very talented writers in the process. Please know that this decision is not a reflection on your work. We only have a handful spots to offer among the many excellent writers and applications we received. The volume of these makes it impossible for us to give commentary on application manuscripts, but our faculty reads every application with interest and diligence. These selections are challenging when we see so much promise out there. I wish you all the best with your writing and send my thanks for your interest in our program.

Decision letter posted to their portal (apply web).
