I'm not sure why it has to do with people of a certain ethnicity or nationality (im chinese American). things are not gonna go as you expected no matter how badly you want it to. what you could do is simply to accept em. If you truly think you have the potentials but schools didn't see from your applications, take a year off working on your research skills to beef up your cv or get some papers published in some top conferences to show your potentials. Or go to some AI labs to become research engineers and apply next year. Also, there are also some other good schools out there. i just don't understand why people always are tryna be mean to others? you can't just simply say some international students stole your seats at UC Berkeley or Stanford because you didn't get in in the first place. you gotta grow up and stop acting like a kid.

PhD admission committee recommended MS instead of PhD. My application has been transferred to the MS admission committee. Anyone know if this happens a lot?

BSc and MSc from international, unknown uni. 2 first-author top-tier publications + 1 unrelated publication. 4x excellent LORs, 2 from well-known profs. Rejected after interview.

Not sure what else I could have done given the opportunities available to me...
