generic rejection...on my email to check my portal "The Admissions Committee for NYU Steinhardt has carefully and thoroughly reviewed your application and supporting credentials. It is with regret that I inform you that we cannot offer you admission to the Clinical/Counseling Psychology - CNPS-PHD program. Thank you for the time and effort you put into completing your application. We realize our decision may be disappointing and we are sorry that we cannot grant you an opportunity to continue your education at NYU Steinhardt. Because of the volume of applications we receive and school policy, we are not permitted to provide individualized feedback on your application. We greatly appreciate your interest in our school and wish you success in your academic pursuits."

Acceptance without interview.

Phone call from the Administrative Director. An official announcement should be made via email within one week.

I was expecting the decision to come around 6:00PM ET as the portal had been updated yesterday around the same time without the decision. Checked the portal just now, no email received yet.

Was told I am on top of waitlist for funding

got rejected by all the universities I applied to. I was rejected from all the top-30 spectrums, and it was only NYU and UCLA left. I was completely hopeless and making plans to find a real job and maybe reapply next year, and suddenly I get this email saying I got in. I have no pre-doc nor research experience or anything like that. I hold a BA in Math (5 years) and a master's in Econ (2 years) from a third-world university. Keep up the hope!! somehow you all will do it.

GPA is grad. If you were accepted and received better offers, please decline. This is my top choice.

Finalist interview. The interview was held two days later, on 02/27, by two faculty members. One seemingly distracted and clearly in a rush. The other was highly engaged and interested, asking questions, taking notes. The interview focused primarily on my PhD research and proposal. Was told I should hear back from them in 10 days-2 weeks.
