MSc thesis based Canadian applicant from a different school, received an individual interview request from a PI

UofT MSc CS thesis program. Knew it would be a rejection from the last 3 months since they've been interviewing people since January. So already had moved on to other plans. Just find it sus that it takes them 5 months to send an update. Anyway, domestic candidate and 4.0 GPA. No publications.

Are all admits out for research-based CS program? Haven't heard anything from them yet !! NO interview, NO GRE !!

I reached out to a professor last year whose work matched my interest. I had no research experience and my schools were all online. Ever since that day I've been working with his lab. Final masters GPA not computed as yet, currently stands around 3.75 but will likely increase to 3.8-3.9 by the end of my masters

PI emailed with informal offer! We had one chat pre-application. International student, no GRE, no publications (2 in progress), 2+ years research experience. Field is HCI.
