Let this be a lesson in effective communication. "I regret to inform you that the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is unable to take favorable action on your application" literally could mean a number of things depending on how you define 'favorable': "sorry we can't give you a scholarship but you can still enroll," "we talked to your doctor and you have 2 years to live so we can't fund you for 5," "sorry, you can't bring your dog with you but your girlfriend, sure." Not even mad I got rejected; I'm mad that an Ivy with a $40b endowment paid someone to write this while I paid a day's work to read it.

Email to check website. 4a/2w/5r/2p

To the Harvard post, did you get the phone call from your POI or the department director? Thanks and congrats!

too depressed to write cheeky comments anymore

Email to check portal around 5:20pm. For future reference: Someone in the forum wrote that Harvard has March 15th as their internal deadline to notify applicants of their status.

received e-mail notice at 5:15 today, to check portal, checked portal, respectful rejection letter. not sure why it took them so long. oh well.

No email. Randomly checked the portal. With that notification comes the end of my first season and a shutout.

To poster below who got in Harvard, congrats! Would you mind sharing the initials of your POI and when you got the phone call? Thanks a lot!

Completely in disbelief. (4a/4r/3p)

Also claiming an AP.
