It said that I would have been normally admitted if it weren't for the decrease in resources. I believe I'm in the second tier based off of this? I didn't even realize there were tiers until I read the other comments!

Budget cuts meant the department was unable to admit anyone beyond the few top applicants who were eligible for University-level fellowships :(

Group 3

Off of a waitlist!!

To the last poster. CUNY has not given some of us our results yet aka 'a hidden waitlist'. THey hold off on some applicants if not enough of the accepted or waitlisted candidates in an AOI dont accept. It would be the only chance for some of us, so please please reply ASAP. Thank you

was a non-philosophy major and very happy to get in

As one of the previous posters noted, U of U used a four-tier ranking system for their applicants. I was placed on the third tier; the waitlist for the waitlist lol. This cycle has been rough, man.

This acceptance actually turned out to be pretty big letdown, as the graduate adviser informed me that the department will not be able to offer me an assistantship due to the departmental funding being cut by 2/3.

My apologize, the post below meant to say the University of Utah (not Purdue University).

I received the same email as the previous posts. I am not optimistic because I am in group 3 (the unranked reserve group). I was surprised that the email did not indicate how many people they are accepting and how many people are in group 2 (the ranked waitlist). If anyone has information regarding this, we should start a forum!

In the reserve group (i.e., second waitlist)

In group 3.

I was told there are four groups: 1. acceptances 2. waitlists (a short, ranked group) 3. reserve waitlists (an unranked group) and 4. rejections. I'm part of group #3. Very happy though, first good news this season :)

They're only offering three spots with funding. First off, if you're excepted, congrats! Second, if you have been excepted but are thinking of rejecting their offer, please do so quickly! Hope everything works out well for all of us (:

SLU said there are 4 spots available with funding. I can't wait for this wait to be over! Hang in there y'all!
